THE LOSS OF A FRIEND

No one knows the anguish I feel.

Since losing a friend, the misery's so real.

The anger is gone, but the memories endure.

I truly thought our friendship was pure.

The new friends I made can never replace,

The loss in my life, which is her rightful space.

If she thought my feelings for her were fake,

Please God, let her see that she made a mistake.

If she could know the pain I feel,

She'd then believe those feelings were real.

All those things that we both shared,

How can she BELIEVE I never cared?

If I'm being punished for something I've done,

It won't happen again God,  YOU'VE WON!

Please bring her back in my life someday.

So I can find the words to say,

How sorry I am this all took place and

I can see her smiling face.

It's always hard to lose a friend,

My heart is broken, it didn't just bend.

Don't take her forever out of my life,

I've been punished enough and had too much strife.

Our friendship can heal, but it may take time.

If we both work hard, it won't cost a dime.

All the lessons we learned from this,

Will make us recall and feel such bliss.

If she never returns to me at all.

Keep her safe, and help me stand tall.

I may never understand what truly went wrong.

But I'll think of her often, as the days go along.
