Written for a neighbor and friend.

Ponder the Memories

When a beloved neighbor decides to leave,

It is sad to see them go.

When she's your therapist, mentor and friend,

It hurts more than you'll ever know.

In the years of living right next door,

We've shared many tears, laughs and smiles.

Our friendship's grown into something so precious,

While sharing the joys and frustrating trials.

You've always been there for me with an uplifting spirit,

Picking me up when I was down.

I'm going to mostly miss your advice, and your smiles,

When you leave and are no longer around.

We've talked in the past of our retirement years,

And fulfilling our goals and our dreams.

And when you decided to move far away,

I felt sad, alone and no longer part of a scheme.

But as I had time to ponder the memories,

And all the love for you I feel.

I realized your happiness is the most important,

And trusted our friendship, knowing our friendship is sealed.

So even though we no longer will be neighbors,

That's no longer the important part.

We know we'll always be there for each other,

'Cause we're embedded in each others heart.
