If only we would let God make our decisions, life would be so much easier. He sends us signs but sometimes we don't follow.

Look For HIS Sign!

Your pulse is jumping, and your heart skips a beat,

When you look in his eyes, the first time you meet.

He was so handsome and had wonderful eyes,

All signs say he's the one, and signs tell no lies.

That's what she thought the first time they met,

No sign of defects, I’d make a sure bet.

They say love is blind, and she knows now that's true ,

She saw only good in him, for her love was true blue.

She never saw the signs, that her friends saw first,

She loved him so much that her heart almost burst.

She ignored little things that sent up red flags,

Certain looks, certain questions, and her crying jags.

Reporting to him for everything she’d say and do,

She was like an animal in a cage at a zoo.

Being under a microscope from morning 'till night,

Always trying to explain to put things right.

And  still she didn't see the signs that she could be wrong,

He would say all the right things, sing all the right songs.

Before she knew what was happening, she lost who she was,

With up and down swings,  and her head in a buzz..

With all these signs, she still didn't see the defects in him,

She believed it was her; her self confidence grew dim.

The harder she tried, the worse it became,

She felt lost, forsaken, and totally to blame.

She gave this man everything she had that she could,

Her heart and love for as long as it stood.

But after awhile, with nothing returned,

She felt betrayed and hurt, at these lessons she learned.

It took for her to hear his words on a recorded tape,

They were hurtful and ugly, she wanted to escape.

But sometimes life is cruel in order to be kind.

And hearing that tape, finally gave her peace of mind.

Now her eyes are opened, and the signs quite clear,

Cutting him loose was easy, she did it without fear.

She was in love with the person, she thought him to be.

But he was all fake and her heart was desperate to flee.

Now she can move on, light heartened and free,

To meet the man she thought this man to be.

God told her he's out there, with a heart pure and kind,

God is truth and love, and she will look for HIS SIGN.

This one is fantastic, Bonnie. You hit the nail on the head. It hurts to see women and girls who are blinded like this until they lose self-confidence and common sense. How great that this woman had courage to call it quits, finally. Kudos to her, and to you for writing this.

Love ya, Sis,
Connie

...in writing this sensitive piece of poetry...of one who could not see a red flag before her eyes...blindness very well becomes love...and in the days of disillusionment and denial...one shrinks before the mirror...until finally realized...reflection broken...notices the crucifix hanging just above it...and hears its voice.
well done pen Bonnie of sadness and hope...
John
