Silent Prayer

As I'm sitting here, watching my son

Taking his vows of love.

And knowing he's found a treasure,

I thank the Lord above.

It seems just like yesterday,

When he was so very small.

But looking at him standing there,

He's seems to have grown so tall.

Many memories are not aloof, such as

The days you climbed our roof.

I had to make the rescues,

‘Cause you wouldn't come down,

And there's where I sat, repressing a frown.

That day you fell from your bike,

And gave that tremendous cry.

You didn't want any stitches,

You just wanted to die.

When you would come to me,

And secretly confide.

I was filled with love and devotion,

But bursting with such pride.

The times you said you loved me,

What could I say?

Except that I love you too,

And you always make my day.

That day you mentioned marriage,

You really dropped a bomb.

But it fizzled out so quickly,

When she first called me MOM.

I already had a daughter but

I could have never found,

A better daughter-in-law,

If I looked the whole world 'round.

She has a sentimental heart,

Way beyond her years.

When she talks of special things,

She tries holding back the tears.

Using expressions like cute and sweet,

She gives my heart such an added treat.

When I thought of a bride for you I made a few wishes,

that you'd find someone nice and one to help with dishes.

I can't express the love I feel,

Sometimes I wonder if this day is real.

Seeing you kneeling with her by your side,

I have to believe it and I feel such pride.

Just remember that I'll always care,

With all my love goes this silent prayer.

God bless their marriage with love and understanding.

Give them lots of patience and not make them demanding.

Fill each day with sunshine, and take away the rain.

Help them to grow together, without the growing pains.

Keep close in their lives, and please stand by.

If things go wrong, take the tears from their eyes.

Let them know you're always there,

I ask you this in my silent prayer!
