Taking Things For Granted

Just catching up on things I should never have put off.

Taking Things For Granted

But while I’m down, I’ve got lots to do,
Things I put off, but their important too.
Taking things for granted was a mistake I made.
Thinking there’s time tomorrow, but that time would fade.

I’ve got to call friends that I haven’t seen in awhile,
To reconnect again and to make them smile.
To catch up on their lives and things going on.
To tell them I love them and I miss them a ton.

I’ve got to pray for the President and the country too.
Pray for his decisions and peace to be renewed.
Pray for the people around the globe,
So they can love their neighbors with love untold.

I must pray for our soldiers who are in harms way.
And ask God to protect them, every new day.
Asking for strength and courage, in all they do.
Praying for support from those their fighting for, like me and you.

Oh yes, I’ve got lots to do while I’m down.
Hoping for enough time while I’m sofa bound.
Taking these things for granted I will do no more.
Not when there’s so much God has in store.

He never told us to take things for granted, but, with humility, to take with thanks every little thing coming our way, even the bad things.
There are those that thrive playing the dangerous game of taking things on a stride without regard for consequences if they choose wrong, thinking that good things will come to them, because they are granted.
When He opened that door again and you returned to us is the only time He granted us something, and we are thankful for it.

Aren't we all guilty of this "taking for granted", Bonnie. Seems when we're soft-bound we have more time to ponder our ways.

You've givin us much food for thought, and in such a beautiful and kind realization! THANKS and Cheers, friend!

with smiles in my inkwell

...Bonnie I think you have always recognized the moments...never for granted took them...you just never realized that the moments...might tick as fast...time might have a mind of its own...perhaps now you and time have come to an agreement...because one above has gifted you.

A wise decision, Bonnie. If you have to be a couch potato, use your (potato) eyes for other things besides tv, and nourish your roots with the good soil of prayer. Am I corny or what? I hope you PEEL off that couch before long!
I love your attitude. You use what you have been given instead of grieving for what you lack.

Love ya, Connie

We must even pray for the soldiers on the otherside(s)
A powerful poem, and so true, we carry on in the hustle and bustle of
eachday, miss using our few golden minutes...
