If We Could Create a Friend!
When we are lonely and our hearts don’t seem to mend,
What if we were able, to create a special friend?
We could give them any traits and build them anyway we can,
We could make them a woman or we can make a man.
I think I’d start with character, the kind I’d like to see.
I’d give them honesty, trust and a lot of loyalty.
I’d then put in some kindness along with a gentle heart.
I’d give them spirituality, for it’s the most essential part.
I’d give them untold love, that fills their very soul.
I’d give them strength and courage, so life won’t take its toll.
I’d throw in a sense of humor so they could make me laugh.
I’d toss in education like English, Science, and Math.
I’d make them very giving to others and themselves.
I’d give them lots of energy like tiny little elves.
I’d put in some wisdom so they would understand.
How important friendship was, throughout this enormous land.
I’d provide a smile that would light up their face,
And give them so much joy that nothing could replace.
All these traits I’d give to them, are exceptional that’s true .
But God’s creation was better than mine, when I found that friend in you!
