I Had to Flee!

Sometimes no matter how hard we try, we can't help someone until we completely turn it over to someone who can.

I Had to Flee!

I’ve known this person for many years,
Both sharing such love, joy and tears.
Such a wonderful person and heart this man had.
Watching him being tortured was so unbearably sad.

Depression entered this man’s very soul
And nothing could stop it until it took its toll.
He tried so hard to be what God wanted him to be.
And I prayed so hard that the depression would flee.

But deeper and deeper the depression went,
Until he was worn, exhausted and spent.
I tried harder and harder to stay by his side.
Even going down with him in his downhill slide.

Pain so intense that we could no longer bear.
Even when we lifted our hearts to prayer.
I begged him to open and let me inside,
But he held on tightly to his precious pride.

I felt his anguished pain so intensely so,
I knew I’d be destroyed if I didn’t let go.
But I held on tight like a coaster ride.
For I too had that stubborn pride.

My heart was changing and my world getting black,
I didn’t know where to turn or how to get back.
Until one day God spoke to me
And told be firmly that I had to flee.

“I’ll stay with your friend and help him get through,
I will also be there to help you too.
Trust in me to heal your friend,
And I will stand by both of you ’til the very end.”

So with a heavy heart I knew I had to flee.

And asking God for strength for my friend and me.

Being only human I couldn’t help this man.

But knowing God the Father, and knowing that he can.

Depression is horrible for the individual and those around who love them so and desperately want to help. Yet, you are so right, there comes a time when we have to trust Him to take care of us ... else all will perish.

God bless you and your friend. Kathy

For a moment I thought you said you had to fly...
Seriously, don't blame yourself, sometimes one just can't help.

Depression is surely a curse but you can't let it sink both of you. You tried your best and the Lord knows that, now the rest is in God's hands.

I understander very well about depression and the poem you wrote. It is so true of an insight of yours and it is exactly the way it has to be. You are blessed with insight into most anything and I envy you for it. Thanks for being my good friend too with all the mighty fine friends you have and Happy Easter, Lois

Well written, painful.
I understand these words and I know you were in pain knowing you had to let go. Most of all with your belief in the Father he picked you up and helped you to let go for the best of you both.

Hope your friend is alright now Bonnie, as this write was heartfelt and totally emotional.

Continued blessings,
~Gwendolyn

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
