My Heart Has a Door!

So many questions going around in my head and this is the one that I asked.

Poem Artwork

My Heart Has a Door!

There was a picture hanging in our church which made my spirit soar.
It was a painting of Jesus standing outside and knocking at a door.
This represented my Savior knocking on the door to my heart.
It was the beginning of a precious relationship, the very start.

To me it’s so amazing in all that Heart Surgeons can do.
When you are literally at deaths door and they pull you through.
My surgeon actually held my beating heart in his hand.
My life ticking away like in an hour glass with dripping sand.

What goes through this amazing man’s brilliant mind?
When someone’s life depends on what he finds.
Does he pray to his God and ask for strength?
Does he talk and plead to him at any great length?

Still groggy from the anesthesia, with questions I wanted to ask,
Concerning the heart surgery and the surgeon’s astonishing task.
The only question that came to mind was “Does my heart have a door?”
It was something held in my memory from many years before.

The Doctor smiled as if he understood what I needed to hear.
“Yes it does, for Jesus was holding it open for me, my dear.”

sorry I've been getting behind, my Sis, but what a poem to come upon tonight! Everything about is a joy. I'm sure your doctor felt the presence of God in the operating room. He's certainly a very special man to answer you as he did.
Thank You, Lord, for Bonnie's good doctor and for bringing her through all her health problems!

Love ya,
Connie

Yes, Bonnie...the surgeons and the surgical nurse...she was my angel for five hours, and many thereafter. But the strongest of help comes from our Lord, as you say; with faith in Him, we fear not. Great message in this poem, dear friend!

Heart surgeons call on the Sky Pilot all the time. They know that they are the last step before the grave for their patients and they take it very seriously. OH there is some joking and funing, but when the patient goes on pump, it all stops. The stilled heart is held tenderly and stitched with handiwork beyond compare. They also take pump breaks to let the patient have more time to "come back" if they can. Oh yes, they know Jesus is an important part of the whole process. Amen. Excellent write. Liz

I find that I can place more trust in those doctors who acknowledge the Lord's hand in their practice than those who think everything of themselves.

This is a great write, Bonnie. I think it is cool that the doctor answered your question with such a beautiful answer.

You came through it with flying colors and from all the prayers from your friends on the den and the family and friends from afar and close to you. We were mighty worried about you on this last time in hospital, but the Good Lord held the door open for you and this poem says it all. Love, Lois

Despite of those horror health care stories, time and agin we are reminded that surgeons are also our brothers not just body mechanics repairing our ailing chassis.

I'm sure many surgeons pray and your poem is superlative in its message of love of God.
