How many times do we remember a time when we were truly sorry for not listening to our parents, this was one time I wished I had.

I Should Have Listened Better!

When I was a child we had a honeysuckle bush climbing up an arch.
Oh how I loved honeysuckle and checked on it in early March.
I couldn’t wait for it to bloom so I could get my special treat.
Nothing discouraged me, not even a bee sting in my seat.

Oh, I was stung many times but the pain went away real quick,
When I would get that honeysuckle and take a giant lick.
My Dad dared me to stay away or he would chop it down.
But that didn’t discourage me, as I licked it on the ground.

The honeysuckle bush always seemed to call my name.
And off I’d run to get some like some sort of a silly game.
Then one day when I came home, I noticed it wasn’t there.
My daddy chopped it down like he promised in his dare.

From that day to this, I’ve haven’t tasted that nectar since.
And every other kind of bush makes my taste buds wince.
Oh, how I miss that honeysuckle I loved when I was small.
I should have listened better then, for now I have none at all.

We've always done things we've regretted later in life. My folks used to get SO mad at me: the parsley in the garden was my favorite "snack." They knew it was me but I blamed the rabbits. =] Poor bunnies took the rap for me! I miss parsley, even now. Well penned, Bonnie!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

We've always done things that we were told not to. I remember my siblings and I used to pluck some kind of unknown fruits off a tree and eat it, not knowing what kind of fruit it was; and in Hong Kong, the air was filled with polution, and everything that are outside of your house needed to be cleaned being consuming, and we didn't pay heed to that warning. Luck for us, we are still very much alive as of today.

A very thought-provoking piece!!!
