Johnny’s Alive!
Hand in hand we walked through the cemetery late one night.
It was very quiet and eerie causing me extreme fright.
But your hand tightened on mine so I quashed my fears.
Trying very hard to remember just why I came here.
A text message came today saying, “Johnny’s alive.”
You were standing with me, we are standing side by side.
My brother Johnny was killed one year ago to the day.
No idea who killed him, so this was a cruel joke I’d say.
And yet here I was like puppet, just as the message said.
As I got closer to his grave, I wished I’d stayed in bed.
For what I saw was a nightmare, the casket was exposed.
And Johnny’s body had vanished as if he had arose.
Just then a figure approached me in the darkness of the night.
It was my brother Johnny just standing there in my sight.
He held his hand stretched out to me, but I was too terrified.
I took several steps backward where I shook and cried.
“Johnny is it truly you, are you really standing in front me?”
“Yes my sister, I came to tell you something that will set me free.”
“I forgave the frightened and lost person for what he did to me;
“He was battered down by life and he felt frightened and scared.”
“He never meant to hurt me and I was totally unprepared.”
“I should have noticed the sadness in him and the fear in his eyes.”
“He was lost and frightened; no one ever heard his cries.”
“I must go now my darling sis, please don’t mourn for me.”
“Lead that troubled soul to our Savior, so he can be set free.”
Thank you Lord for being in that dream when my brother came to me.
It was you my Lord that opened my heart so I could finally see.
That holding all this anger inside was not the plan for me you had.
You wanted me to love and grow and wanted me to forgive this lad.
