I lived for several years in New York City and the surrounding areas. I believe we all have a bit of the New Yorker in us.
Here’s to the New Yorker in You
We all look up and wish on the same bright stars.
From anywhere on earth they play the same part.
No matter what broad stripe of earth we claim
Our dreams are real and basically the same.
We all wish for security in our day.
And anywhere a true friend lives is okay.
We wish and work to keep our loved ones safe;
To leave a legacy of strength and faith.
Whether north or south or west or in the east.
We all know a higher Love that brings us ease.
Misguided souls who haven’t learned the truth of Him yet
Are destined to suffer a long and great regret.
To those who shed their blood and lost their sons
And all who pay the price for battles won.
Our hearts are fierce and our resolve is evermore.
We’ll well remember what that loss is for.
And here’s to the Red White and Blue.
And here’s to keeping faith and love in bloom.
And here’s to what it takes to see it through.
And here’s to the New Yorker in you.
