Tonight I celebrated my middle son's 24th birthday with him and his family. He nearly died before he was born and we spent many months in the hospital together, (he in utero) because of placenta previa. He could have bled to death in moments. I called my mother one day while I was having the blues about it, feeling restless and anxious and worried, crying of course. My mother said, don't worry, this will make him a survivor. He has nearly died two other times in his short life. Nearly being key. Once in an accident that took his uncle, my brother, and later, as a result of a severe addiction to drugs, which he has put in it's place. After they left tonight I sat back and thought in awe how lucky I really am and I am still crying those tears of quiet joy. I am so blessed. I pray for those who cannot see or feel their blessings tonight, for one reason or another. I thank my Lord that I see mine so very clearly tonight.

Grateful Bliss

In gratitude

I count my many blessings

As I lay my head

Upon my pillow tonight.

Six children, I have, all well

And mostly happy

And growing into people

Who do right.

I smile tears of quiet joy

Thinking of my loves…

Grandchildren, chinchillas and dogs

Friends who’d turn anyone green

And the most wonderful

Loving man to share

All the beauty around us with

The promise of so much more to be seen.

My cup runneth over

And I can feel the squeeze,

The flow of knowing bliss.

I can barely contain it

Its bounty fairly begs, demands,

To be unleashed, let go.

But I must hold on

Although I can’t restrain it.

I do not know

How long I have

With these tender mercies

I am given.

But I pray each day

That I may deserve

And earn this piece of heaven

And by that I am driven.

Your expression of pure gratitude is exquisite. And, it is through gratitude that we attract continued blessings to our lives. So wonderful that you recognize and give thanks for what you have.
