Low Self Esteem is Hell
Rusty salty liquid running
In a rivulet toward the dark
Writhing forms of suspicious
Nature inspire a sudden spark
Of fear intense and driving
You, you’re the impressionable kind
Running from the revulsion
Running from your own mind
Thoughts you are certain
No one but you could be so low
As to entertain for even a moment
So you should be the one to go
To hell where you belong
No longer to stain the world
With your unpardonable presence
You wicked, impossible girl
Yet you cannot leave so you
Punish and purge and pray
For absolution that you don’t deserve
And search through one more day
To find a reason why you
Might not have to leave in fact
Why you might be more innocent
Than you supposed and in the final act
You learn that indeed you are
A child that the Lord created well
And for that reason alone you see,
You do not go to hell.

You have managed to pen a little bit of every human being. At one time or another, we have all felt your words.
Well done

from those who have it. Parents mostly.
One can overcome this terrible feeling.
Thanks for sharing your well penned words..

This hits harder and closer than I want - I loved my parents, still do, but my Mom would tell me I was worthless and wouldn't amount to anything - same said by my older sisters - and ex husband - you hear it so long, you begin to believe it, wonder what's the use - having a hard time convincing myself I am loved for me, by God - by others - painfully, powerfully penned sadness - well done -
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
