I don't think I would mind letting go if I didn't have to keep doing it over and over and over. Sigh

Letting Go

It’s one in the morning.

My baby calls.

Mama my ear hurts,

It hurts so bad I almost have to cry.

My heart hurts.

She is grown up.

She’s on her own.

She lives hours away

and only needs me sometimes.

I want to wrap my arms

around her and make it all better.

I want to make the pain

go away but it’s hers and

I have no right.

Right now all I

can give is my voice.

That is what she called for.

Aw, honey it’ll be alright.

Her pain and her joy,

The life that she leads,

Is hers and I cannot be jealous.

Go to the ER if you need to

my darling and call

and let me know what he said

when you hear from the Doc.

Later when you are feeling better,

Then we’ll really talk.

I love you.  It’ll be ok.

Talk to you later.

Okay, go do what you’ve got to do.

I’ll be here.

A clear vision on how hard it is indeed to let go!

May God bless you as you write.

I love this... so true. I am just getting ready to send our oldest daughter out into the "real world" and it truly frightens me. At least she will be living with her grandpa, but still...

sometimes, all that is needed is a kind word...or just the knowledge that there is someone who will listen...this is an outstanding write...caring, intimate, dealing with feelings that all can relate to. Well done!

It does not matter how old a child becomes, to her parents.... she'll always be their baby. Though I am independent, my Mom still offers to braid my hair and I'll be 28 this fall!

This is a sweet poem, Kathy.

Oh I truly enjoyed this. One of the hardest things as a parent is letting go and letting your children be grown-ups! Great job!
