Hello Darrell and Kathy Adams. I read the poem,"Lost". I found it profoundly deep in its theme and the image of impending danger encroaching on the world seems quite appropriate here. Well done. PLease feel free to visit my site here in the "Den"
Kathy I remember feeling this when my Dad was in the hospital and he didn't know me one minute and the next it was so different. My heart breaks. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
This piece haunts my mind and soul deeply. As to sit by and watch a loved one slowly slip away without recognition is very difficult. Both my parents are gone now, both and the hand of a very debilitating desease. Just staring, staring into nothingness because all memory was erased. A very bitter pill to swallow. You bring out the agony and anguish that those surrounding the one must suffer in silence....
God bless, give you strength to endure and know you are not alone....
Long good-byes are the hardest on the heart, allowing the mind endless time to express its sorrow in countless haunting ways. My prayers are with you and yours. Rebecca
I love the form that you used for this poem. It makes it soft and flowing and breathes of the sadness that I am sure is in your heart. My BIL just passed away and I wrote a poem about his final days... It helped all of us to feel a little comfort in his passing. It is entitled "Answering the Call". I also wrote "Cocooning" to describe the way we felt carried at the end.
May the Lord hold you in his comforting hands as you deal with losing your dad.
Kathy,
Letting go, especially in the case of caring for an elderly family member ridden by Alzheimer's or dementia, is so hard to do. Many times, the family members of the patient say their goodbyes, years before the inevitable happens, due to the horrendous nature of the disease. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
Nice, emotive writing. Sometimes, we're all aided by letting our bottled feelings hit the page.
Kathy, I don't know who you are writing about, but it seems to be a person older in years. Your writing is beautiful, and so is the style in which you wrote it in. It makes the reader feel a sense of loss...or even being lost. My prayers are with you.
the way you have written this piece with the short lines made me feel lost at sea... it made me feel as if i was letting the waves swell underneath me completely powerless to do anything.
it seems to me you speak of an aging loved one... in my mind his memory has gone and some days he doesnt even know who you are which is the hardest part... always trying to make him remember who you are and what role he plays in your life...
