Are we not all inspired by those greats of the past to try to further enhance what lies in the future?

"Reach Out and Touch Someone" To those who gave birth in the past, Thanks and remembrances are freely cast. You blazed light trails through forests Of poetry, story and prose in due chorus. The architects of great literature Are the corner stone of our current efforts pure. The foundation laid in a careful way Is lovingly built on and challenged every day. I sing your praises, artists, if I may. Painters, sculptors, word crafters and musicians And all those who create and give Bring special gifts to the lives we live. A song, a book, a picture dear, A photo or a hair raising movie that’s feared Can kick our mood all the way to the curb Or raise away our souls from deeply disturbed. If I could somehow own that power If I could control a person with art for an hour What a sublime outcome of my labor, A reaching out from me to my heart’s neighbor. Still, with much to learn and more to say I opine more to myself each day Than I will ever have the nerve to share Someday, perhaps, sometime, somewhere. Till then, I once more humbly thank The artists of the established rank Of creativity and firsts of some, the Courage to “Reach out and touch someone”. Kathy Adams

and what about this work...? it has certainly reached out and inspired me and i am sure it will do the same for others. not taking anything away from our poetical forefathers at all but just embracing the place that we as poets of this era and time sit in; we may not be well known but 'we'(you, I...others)are numbered with the 'trailblazers' of today and...for tomorrow. There were and are many extraordinary but unknown stars. thanks.....asa

Yes, we owe a lot to those trailblazers, if not for them, where would be go to co-opt lines for ourselves. Haha Kidding. (Kinda) Seriously, it must have been an exciting time when the poets, et al, understood what they were doing might just change how people's thought process centuries later. I wonder if any had this opinion as they labored (and labor it surely was) flat of his back daubing paint in the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel . . .
