He Knew

I don’t remember

the exact date

when the 1st card arrived

in the mail.

I can only remember

the feeling wash over me,

someone cares!

I’m alive!

The card was not signed,

I didn’t care,

someone in the crowd

knew more than they shared.

Everyday,

the cards showed up free of debris,

they only had the imprint

of what he wanted me to see.

Like an eager child I awaited the mail

and smiled at his generosity,

its seemed he always found

the card that was perfect for me.

This went on for a year

and my love grew stronger for

this man of simple cheer.

Today I received a four-word letter,

"He died on Friday."

I cried,

I didn't even know his name.

A part of me too, died.

my heart for this man will continue to cry.

the mystery of him….. will never die

I will miss him…..my angel

……who kept me sane,

the one who carried the weight

of so much pain.

(True story... his son...finally told me his name..Fred)

Such guardian angels exist to guide us in life to the ultimate goal of enjoying the full benefits of love. I, too, have greatly missed you.

A truly touching beautiful story/poem, Tracey! Isn't it amazing
how sometimes a stranger can make a profound difference
in our lives.I don't think it's a coincidence, an angel
was watching over you!;-)Great art!
