The squirrels tail furies thick as he barks obscenities, even branches quaked in his wake. Swaying its tail, the tabby cat meows innocently as I pass by.
A fine mist still clings in air with a musky scent. Near by a bulldozer sits cold and wet in bare dirt that smells like earthworms dangling on a fisherman’s hook.
Not paying attention to under-foot I stepped on a tail of a county mouse who lost it’s final race. It now laid split-gut, eyes bulged, as if stricken with fear, disbelief. Poor creature, poor creature indeed.
A neighbor waves in envy as she gets in her car dressed in her Sunday best, no doubt on her way to church to pray for those with less.
Perhaps she will even pray for me as I continue to walk my daily path discovering the wonders of life and enjoying the morning’s aftermath.

Tracey, this is an absolute treasure. The stunning visuals and graphic descriptions draws the reader right into the foray of the morning trek through the forgiving forest, as mankind continues to dismantle Mother Nature’s habitat in the name of progress.
