The Portrait

I’ve made so many mistakes…
careless, thoughtless, forgivable
and unforgivable.

Each shattered fragile truth
to silver streams of salty regret.

Silence is empty……so empty,
an abyss of pittance that wallows
between truth and denial.

As I stand in stillness
I wonder if the painter of my portrait
captured the gypsy of my soul?

The child who wanders in solitude
and cries…alone.

You've captured her solitude, quite well Tracie. Which leaves the reader with wanting to embrace her.
Outstanding work.

When an artist is being true to the nature of painting the soul will be seen through the eyes. This poem inspires the truth. Great write.
