Beyond the Wall

I never knew
what it was like
on the outside
looking in.

I never knew
how to climb walls,
only how to build them.

Reaching for you,
I tried to make a path
we both could walk,
laying stones of truth
to the garden within.

My path revealed
was an infinite maze,
embe dded with thorns
piercing our hearts.

Lost within the maze
I found
your new wall
dazed with disbelief.

You never saw
the rose
that bloomed,
it wilted on the path
beyond the wall
of yesterdays dream.

Hi Tracey,
Ah sweet words that do enthral,
Encased behind its own wall,
Words that bloom as a red rose,
Step on a ladder in words of prose.
