Don’t hit me again .
Can’t you see I’m black and blue .
Keep your fists off me .

I’m frightened of you .
I fear to hear your footsteps .
Don’t come home tonight .

Once we were in love .
Once we were able to talk .
I don’t want to fight .

I don’t need abuse .
I’m not a punch bag .
I’m fragile and very weak .

I cannot fight back but I can defend myself .
I’ll stand on my feet .

I’ve got to tell you ,
You’ll never hit me again .
I’m better than that .

I’m better than you .
I’m better off without you .
I’ve changed where I’m at .
