The poem describes a romantic encounter between two people who reconnect after not speaking for a while. The speaker reflects on the unexpected nature of the encounter and the intimacy they shared. The speaker also expresses some confusion about the motivation behind the other person's invitation and wonders if they were simply seeking comfort or if there was more to their relationship.

Come home and find time to speak with me.

You will find a solemn thought

A mindful spirit

And a compromising heart

I still remember

Last night

You placed a call

Inviting me to your studio

I couldn’t deny

I came

Behold, into your open arms

Tangled in your embrace

Or was it mine?

We held tightly

Swallowing our heartbeats

Like constructors

We paved the way to our best moment

The door of your character

Flunked into darkness

Enough light

Identify the basics

Letting curiosity prevail

Demons of restless minds

Pushed my hands to switch your light

And behold,

To flush

Lay a floating gel

I am confused…

Why did you place the call?

I remember our first meet

After the festival, years back

With friends from Afar

I paid hostage to your after pleasures

Shoving your contacts into my hands

Wishing I call you

We had our finest hour…

It took weeks, months and a year

I never placed the call

Then…

One morning

12:Am to be precise

You placed a call

Your voice

 Filled with grief

I could tell

Is something wrong?

I asked.

Yes!

You answered.

That day you bless your stars

Alive and staring at the ceilings

Remembering one of many things that could have happened:

A wrecked car

An accident survivor - Or

Worst still….

You were down

Needed someone to talk to

I offer myself in sympathy

And drove your house in haste

You flunked opened the door

Inviting me into your world

What a strange, strange world.

This transparency

Of Your being

Your living space

The art on the wall

Staring in my face

Inviting me to stay

To pry open the hidden meanings in all this

The metaphors of your being

Beaming at me

Life is beginning to take a shape

The desires of my fantasy

Illuminating your smile

With the brush stroke of imagination

You are now a living painting

A sculpture…

An imposing 18th Century presence

Transformed in the 21st

Warm

Alluring

Seductive

A yet plain

I could see through into your being

I pondered and my heart pumped with passion.

You hugged me and held on tightly

Not letting an iota of air pass through

Did you just need a body to lean on?

I asked.

My sympathy

I have more than that

You needed more than that

I felt the need and your wish fulfilled

Pulling and turning me on

Toasting a glass to life

An amazing experience is born

Forcing a new word into my vocabulary

Like syrup I couldn’t deny

Oh, Yes!

This is a Bootie Call.

This was an excellent composition of the force of emotion and the tangled yet viable web of want and desire. A very well written piece.

"The Challenge of an Artist at 12: AM" is a profound composition poemized through a union of emotions, knowledge and art; and poetized with words from the lexicon of a heedful observer of life, and a soul guiding a wise heart that pumps wisdom and grace.

I salute You, Sublime Poet, Abu-Hassan Korona!

Never rest Your pen.

Healthy Long Life may You and Your House enjoy.

Most reverently,

Andre Emmanuel Bendavi ben-YEHU
