click, click,
click, click,
he had done it once more,
a forgetfulness bound in glory
yet heard,
click, click,
the electric hum,
the clicking of needle in groove,
the empty sound now
of mind in limbo,
remembering
only to put out cigarettes
once too often
left on table tops,
the burn marks a warning,
the music gone
but tell-tale
vinyl clicks reveal
a sadness
as age destroys
living tissue
and the memories
linger
only in eclectic
energy.
Thank God for digital-remastering, making those memories live again with spot or blemish! Trouble is, the scratches are everything, aren't they?!! It's the spots and blemishes that are the "special bits" of the recorded message and memory! Atmospheric and nostalgic, Larry, thank you. LOL Kate xx
