suffering from anorexia
(too little Miracle-grow consumed)
a rock-hard home
(up in the hills)
a long ride back
to the comfort
of family
some greenery for the season
(a bit of frenzied shopping)
followed by music
those notes medieval
harmonize with tinsel
scraps from aunt’s old
tree (a jumble
of thoughts)
for such
little boughs
almost an after-thought
the tea and Christmas
cookies rolled up
(on the plate)
for you and me.
