we are left with cold concrete
and we note all ten,
etched by magic,
ten scripted demands
from our invisible god
who dare not show his face;
he wants to be alone
to count
our indiscretions.
his list simple:
just ten items
we might read and obey;
but while he counts
in some ethereal oasis,
we struggle with passion,
and kiss our mother’s lips,
kicking our father’s shins
and wanting more.
mabye we "can't get what you want but you get what you need" ... and that we must find within ourselves ... and when we reach deep within our souls we can hear our father calling to us to learn to live on our own ...
your words give the reader pause--dynamic poetry! multi-layered, complex, yet effectively simple...BRAVO!
