not too surprising, but
many young boys
rely on newspaper delivery jobs
for cash, tossing paper missiles
on porches in small town
America where moms still bake
cod for supper,
waiting till later to read
headlines about Borneo, wondering
with whimsy, if neutered cows still lactate,
hoping that mad cow milk still
promises hope for calcium starved
lads who come home to
dads waiting and hoping
for beef, chicken
and pig to regulate
their hearts and get
them all to heaven.
i see small town america still has a lot of potential ...

Me when they got nasty on the route I always put the paper in plastic and aimed it for the mudhole but then I never saw a cow that was neutered? Saw a few bulls that I wanted to neuter.
