your posed legs limit
choices; each artist lifts sharp pen
to thick paper,
tracing your cleft-tones black,
the white space
giving depth to thoughts
stuck in 1973, the Carpenters
humming lost tunes,
while an annoying facial
tic bruises the moment
purple, and satin dolls harangue
the truth:
to voice pleasure on vinyl,
then die so thin.
I love karen Carpenters songs...sad that she died so young!!

While I am not from that era, I must say this is an enjoyable read. I was a bit distracted by satan/satin. Do you mean the devil by the title word? I can see the possibility but was left uncertain. Still, a very well done write.
Is this an allegory, or about a specific person? Perhaps neither!! Wonderfully drawn and something I should be aspiring to; having written a sequence about Artist and Model, my tutors say it is too sentimental and idealised and I should strive to be more "cynical" and evocative: well, this just about does it: perhaps I should filch this piece for my folder and produce it with an artistic flourish: "Et, voila!!". As always, as I always say!!, so surgical and unrelenting; this brands the eyes, the mind and the soul. Haunting. TY Kate xx
Fantastic write Larry. One of the most beautiful voices ever!
Wasted, so sad, what we do to ourselves in this world
with the help of the one in your title!...
