a gerrymandered plain stretching
the canvas to forever,
then limbo, no color patterned
after Matisse,
no bright sunflowers
like Van Gogh.

just flattened orchids
like movie sets,
each one artificial
yet more real,
as sewing machines rock
and thimbles scurry
home.
