Caboose Yellow

sort of a fog today,
the streets glistening with the tactile,
and children’s voices monstrously roll
through alleys covered
with broken whirligigs.
wide windows display miniatures,
playtime colors bounce mist droplets,
coloring panes with frivolous white;
noses poke droplets to the side,
lips press windows
speaking lustful thoughts,
urging tongues to lick
away thin layers of moisture
to find relief in plastic towns
and locomotives straining up hills,
cabooses yellow in twilight.

I truly enjoy the way you write...the "style" of your poetry, for lack of a better term. Been quite foggy (just wrote a little about it before reading this)here the last few mornings, and this poem captures that feel nicely. Well done.

I love the atmosphere of this piece. It's given me a whole different perspective to model trains.

I live in a train town and know fellows that put up model train sets. They will love this one.
