surrounding ourselves
with phony crystals,
we light up our houses for display.
each new figurine flashes eyes
so sad, miniaturized pathos on every
shelf, every table holding
silent creatures promising childhood,
a twisted hope
purchased for quiet desperation.
Funny, I have just come to this having watched the newish film with Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet, "Finding Neverland", about how JM Barrie came to write Peter Pan. So crystals, fairies, learning the value of being the eternal child in the crushingly boring and non-sensical "adult" world which we force ourselves to conform to seems emotionally very appealing at the moment. Especially after a couple of glasses of wine, too! Trying continually to assure ourselves by other means that we are not completely phucked up is what is actually the escapist route for me at this moment in time... Desperate? Probably!! Precious Trauma indeed... and one in which I have probably completely misread this, Larry, so don't take it than anything other than a good bit of ol' KB Brithumour... and blame it on the crystals! :)) LOL Kate xx
