Night Tide
mention beauty and succumb
to flavor, earthly objects
swing by deeply, connecting
with the soul.
foster families might scream
at the delays, bobbing cribs
insistent on memories,
followed by seaweed raking
the endless swell.
no one can contain the cold water;
attempts fail somewhere,
and mystical reactions delight.
one step more
and the waves can’t reach;
heads clear now, but wet,
waiting for the moment.
