she’s a blues singer, damn
her, and that shape don’t take no crap,
don’t take no crap at all, from an audience
that loves her, and wants her, too.
the yells remain tight-throated roars,
those lyrics opening
something deep, and she carries
the bass, left-handed, yes,
but pure, a thumping in each man’s heart.
now she lets go, the energy climbing
and her hair comes down, freely swinging,
the dancers in riot gear below the stage,
no one sitting down, her tight
skirt riding up those thighs,
and men gulp down tequila shots,
hoping she’ll take it all off.

Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
Questions, unquestioned discoveries, and answers in parable and rhyme…. This collection records a journey starting with a 1960s retrospective and the first man on the moon, moving to a new millennium welcomed in with a terrorist spin, family crises,
The songs and art in this book are about our collective emergence after the pandemic and trauma of the last few years - comprised of 5 collections: World as Refuge, Where We Live, In Our Hands, Rhythms of Change and What We See & Sow.
