Tight Masks
stronger movements lifted the tent
but morning sounds oozed through
tight masks,
lips grim.
tools cut nails, the clink of metal
surprising, for who knew
no one could hear?
each hatch-back opened,
and flowered paintings fit
nicely, surrounded by sculpture
crimped in New York.
then each vehicle clicked shut, the four
cars slinking slowly between displays.
the bust and grab over,
the loot on its way
to the highways, where
semi-trucks lurked, ready
for the furious fast fury
out of town.
