The Failed Artist even the title portrays another attempt at futility. even the cautious words splinter when mouthed. falsifying brings eager animals, the dogs of misplaced thoughts. turning over the printed page the author smudges a vowel. the light touch fails him, too, nothing springs up dazzling. hours go by and reviews do not plunk in mailboxes rusting in the snow.
