sun glinting off windshields, the rush
of cars whipping past walkers,
the tall elm trees rustling with the cooler air,

they breathe deeply, each one remembering
the distant early morning dew.

for smiles, and the moment lingers
in their souls.

the street quiets too, and the night opens
for the lovers, who find a park bench
to think of their tomorrows.
