Rexall means something profound, the little old
people shuffling in, the manager stealing
peanuts from the hot shelf, nightly pin-ups
viewed at racks clustered near
soda fountain and the mouths
of kids filled with Milky Ways,
peanut clusters and Baby Ruths.
sundown brought street lights,
signals to scram, dinner hot
on the kitchen table, and dad
waking to eat and go,
his night shift whistle
blowing at eight
down at the factory.
