Heading West

Dark hour bursts on scene
Most players unready
For disaster.

The car fills, sloppy
Sentiment adjusts
Reality so all can laugh,
Sing, play with iPods
Glance out windows
To eternity.

The scary news reveals
Karma, the night
Playing tricks with society’s
Future, all begin
To shave heads, looking
For some notion of shock
Therapy.

Why be bound in a limbo
Of self-defeat when
The highway offers peace?
