line outside waggles through the square,
the little people giggling in line, the coffee pot on high, the donuts
squeaking in their icing boiling grease, law inforcement
officers keeping order, no one can
tell how long the sale will last but
all hope antique dealers don't steal
all the golden donut holes,
dripping in syrup, and take
them into shanties filled
with genuine soldered toys from 1920s
golden years or tell
Maggie May to sing
longer, for this day happens
once a year only, no cash back,
no donuts returned, so slurp that hot coffee, dunk those donuts,
it's festival time in Paola, Kansas.
It is always an indeed pleasure to read such splendid real work such as this one. This is well written and adqaute in everyway. Thanks for sharing this with us all here on the Den.
