we found yellow predominant, but
the large black
swallowtails too
were found stuck behind vents,
in crevices, tossed or whirled
away into culverts, and each

smeared the loveliness
across the glass pane, the sunset causing
a betwitching glow of reds, yellows, greens and pinks.
