If we stop and see the beauty around us. We would complain much less and see more clearly.
This fantastic body of mine, declines,
like a parched desert and a-
dried up river in Dafur!
Hair receedes like brown dormant grass,
like Fall bordered by Winter!
Spring only knows how, when
and where it will sprout!
Age and time have weaken my limbs,
pounding of my feet a patter,
but the roar in my voice,
still fearce like a lion!
These eyes brown are vibrnat,
though at times images are unclear.
Oh, Monet's portrait of his home,
at Argemteuil, magnificent!
beautiful tress, crocuses, morning glories,
tiped their crowns to golden sunrays!
Red roses sprout, bud and blossoms.
Plush dark green grass,
awesome gardens surrounded by foilage.
And hanging plants drapped skillfully,
like spider webs over entrances.
Yet still enamored by Michelangelo's-
painting of the Celestine Ceiling!
Which elevates me near the throne,
of the eternal and great I AM!
Yet humbles me to the reality,
of my insignificent self!
Alas, focus and imagery harmonious,
and I love who I am, so now I see!
There is nothing blurry about the intense finery of this poem describing how your vision, your passion, has not declined like your body. Fortunately, while corneas harden and fail to adjust so that we can see as well as we did when younger, cataracts can be removed very easily and vision restored for those that have that problem.
I have been fortunate that external things like my vision (I remain extremely myopic like I have been all my life, but without cataracts) have not changed much or changed slowly, but internal changes seem to be happening more quickly, to my dismay, but hopefully correctable, as well.
Wow! Some more amazing poetry about aging. We are not getting younger that's for sure. I look at me and what do I see? I see a comic strip with Popeye's arms, Superman's legs and Wimpy's torso. The face is Clark Kent and he is having a hard time fitting in that suit, let alone that flying heroes outfit. HA! I also agree God still loves creatures such as me. Praise our Lord!
