Because my Grandparents were, I am!

My life is woven together like a quilt,
many beautiful colors and pieces.
Grand ma Lewis was the color,
German chocolate cake,
black and beautiful and could cook!
Her Sunday crisp golden brown chicken,
smelled so good healthy fresh chickens,
stood in line to be crucified and cooked!
Mom inherited the gift of cooking,
she could cook most anything.
Her three inch soft buttered rolls,
melted in your mouth like a,
butter-finger candy bar, so good!
Grand pa Lewis family patriarch,
fascinated by the bible,
told me stories of Moses, Job,
David and Goliath and Samson,
as a child the stories wowed me!
I wanted to imitate every one of them,
especially Samson my hero!
Grand pa, grand ma Jones spoiled us,
we lived at Schafer's bakery,
big brown glazed donuts cost a nickel.
Around the corner from grandma's,
three bedroom apartment on Garfield.
Grand ma sipping on 4 Roses whiskey
and chews her snuff nodding,
wrapped her money in her hander-chief,
watched soaps like as the world turns,
Grand pa Jones quiet, observant,
and very humble!
It's Saturday we love our grandparents
they are in heaven praying for us!
Sandie, Tonie, and Michael,
dunking glazed donuts in milk,
white milk rings on our lips,
guess what, they were having a ball!
