Solitude

Solitude leads me into dark crevices
Hidden from light that distorts reality
Isolated and left to discern life’s meaning
Apart from the vagaries of our world
Defined by politicians and charlatans
Professors of truth and wisdom

Solitude ushers in the first and last
Alpha and Omega, God and Humankind
Insecable subjects bound together
By commonplace, probabilistic events
Declared intentional by those who deceive
Themselves and others incapable of understanding

Solitude affords serenity and aloneness
Necessary to decipher our calling and purpose
Without which we become enslaved by false prophets
Who claim to have all the answers sans questions
Doubt erases our fears of certainty
And propels us towards a realization of singular clarity

Solitude transforms sonorous huddled masses
Towards unique, but kindred spirits
Yearning for acceptance by self and others
A harbinger of an afterlife of contentment and respect
For individual beliefs and values, once ignored
Now forever affirmed by His grace and mercy

some excellent, intrinsic concepts... the imagery is tight and the meter graceful ...

My first reaction was to say, "Whoa... powerful second verse." However, I'm not certain how you interpret the word "intentional". I'm a firm believer in the theory that people's paths cross for a reason - to learn, to share, to grow. I don't believe in serendipity; there are no accidental meetings. With that said, I don't believe there's some grand (pre-written, pre-destined) plan either.

Much thought went into this one. Good write, Keith.
