Touch me softly and cure my pain
Release my soul from spiritual chains
My faith abounds in your healing power
If it be your will free me this hour
Endless miles driven to be blessed
Skeptical at first I must confess
Stage lights blind me for a moment
Could this be a mere pageant?
Hype and hyperbole prey on the sick
Words uttered rote and too quick
The miracle man’s eyes pierce my soul
Speak volumes to the infirmed and old
Hands warm and sure caress my head
Deafening sounds and many tears shed
Trust in God conveyed to you
Because you believed healing was true
A jolt shoots down my aged spine
After years of suffering maybe now it’s time
Years later I’m still in pain
Hopes and fears remain the same
Except now I trust in God
Refuse to believe in a feckless clod
Shame on those who pretend to heal
May you be judged for your deceitful zeal
Sometimes I think that people get so caught up in trying to help a close friend that they try anything to comfort. Just listening to the person is what it takes. But this is written so well.
(((HUGS))) and much love, your friend in Tx., Karen Lynn. :(
I live with pain too (OA, possibly RA), so I know and understand how you feel. All the best to you!
