A New England Day

A New England day clear and clean
Perfection personified and pristine
Crisp currents caress the shore
Singular spirits sprint and soar
An inlet sequestered from hearty gales
Spinnakers strapped with their sails

A day like no other selected for us
A gift from above in whom we trust
Slithers of sand and sinewy seaweed
Lie on the beach for all to see
Mallards and geese look for food
While empty nesters hold hands and seclude

Sunlight filtered into lavender and blue
Diamonds sparkle right on cue
Rocks define man’s attempt to segregate
Land meant for all who congregate
At the water’s edge to pay our respect
To this beautiful land left unchecked

The day ends where it began
A fiery ball permeates the sand
And warms my feet now calloused and old
For this simple man now young and bold
Ah—for a second I remember when
My life was pure and free of sin

Wish I was up in New England eating some good Lobster tonight instead of PA eating microwaved pizza. I like the atmosphere of New England, but have never had oppportunity to visit there.

This is so lovely. I've never been to New England, but you have painted such a gorgeous picture, I'll have to go sometime. As for the message of your poem, I love it as well. It's amazing how the familiarity of nature brings memories of simpler times to mind.

Karma Bank to Following By Listening by Chiemi

These song lyrics and art are tales, tides and twinkling lights - tunes telling stories of warmth and sun, city and sand, paths that lead, and the coins we can keep in the Karma Bank. Spirit's been bypassed for sorrow, dreaming of a better tomorrow .
