Spleen and Sawdust in Jena

This is one of the poems included in my book Gnat Feathers and Butterfly Wings.
What was once a mighty oak standing tall in Louisiana is now a stump no oak wilt no insects no catepillars no lightning bolt but for a question black and gold nooses sit-ins a threat with a pen a fire fisticuffs a shotgun taunting a middle finger a beating they cut the tree down. Very nice poem... I think the tree should sue, it was an innocent bystander. Some people refuse to see, the relevance of a noose hung in a tree. Thanks for your insight.
