This is Day 11, Poem 11 of the Poetry Challenge. I like this one! Let me know what you think!

Note to Self

This evening, I will give thanks to

my metaphoric shield against insult,

keeper of blood and bone,

my skin.

When I am cold,

my pores tighten against the wind.

When I am hot,

they expand,

secreting salty water

to keep me cool.

As I bathe

I scrub at its flaws

with pumice-like roughness,

often forgetting the way

it soaks in the sun

turning me deeper brown

or exudes my scent.

When I walk

my thighs collide sweetly,

their soothing friction

a reminder

of pleasures to come.

Lest I take my skin for granted,

from now on

I vow

to always

touch it lightly.

I love it, like a soft feather gliding all over!
Like your way of thinking Carla, skin/pumice stone, exfoliating by why, was interesting...
When hot - yes skin will expand and so my rings won't fit -usually-
WE can never take our skin for granted, love this ode' to your grateful vessel! Since I have had Reiki recently, my skin is ultra-sensitive, to touch almost hurts... but it's a peaceful feeling...

This is a fine ode to a part of the body that may well indeed often be taken for granted. Thank you, Carla. Love and best wishes to you,

Regis

A sweet, light reminder to take care, very descriptive...

Be always safe,
Karen

In the Whirlwind by Tichaona Chinyelu

In the Whirlwind is a poetic storm that frees history from the cages of corruption and puts it in the hands of everyday people. Words are weaved into a new fashion statement that has nothing to do with runways but everything to do with projects!
