ANOTHER FRIDAY NIGHT
It was three A.M.
The street light in front of the bar
Buzzed,
Blinked,
Then went out, leaving them
Stumbling blind down the alley.
She leaned against the door,
Fumbling for the keys.
The lock, open –
They fell inside,
Groping each other for balance.
She clicked on the lights.
Her room had a brown cast.
Everything smelled of sweat
And stale drinks.
Eyes red and swollen,
Cat claws running up her
Stockinged legs,
She swayed back a few steps –
Pinning him to the wall.
Her red, chipped nails caressed
The anchor tattooed on his arm.
“Here we are sailor”.
Jack Daniels slurred her words.
He laughed.
She clicked off the lights.
“You sure are pretty in the dark”.
