Would I
Could I
Should I take another sip?
That stroll down
memory lane
when life seemed
uncomplicated.
Friends are plenty
in paradise—
a liars circle
come one come all. Should I
Could I
Would I wash it all away?
Disappointment—
mother's eye,
embarrassment—
father's voice
when others ask
about me. Could I
Would I
Should I
throw a few back?
One last dance—
the Devil wrangles
a tempted bargin
for happiness.
That haunting endeavour
suffocates my mind
like an endless river
Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
