A Little Too Far

Life should come with a rewind button.
If only I knew then, what I know now, how I would do things differently!

The sad notion of worlds on end,

the sad notion of losing a friend.

It ended badly because I pushed too hard,

Having taken a good thing just a little too far.

Between the mix of our daily bread,

And monsters feeding off the dead.

Time-traveling wizards in a jar,

Having taken a good thing just a little too far.

Sadness, weeping, in my brain,

I don't think I can bear the pain.

I'm trying to catch a falling star,

Having taken a good thing just a little too far.

If we rewind....do we learn from our mistakes? Great thought in this poem.

It sounds in mixed rhythm of Villanelle and Pantoum. "A Little Too Far" is rich in contents and imagery and rhythm. A poetic flower diffusing wise scent.

In admiration,

I like the repetition in this--reiterating the underlying meaning, which is a good negative maxim to remember. There is a fine line between taking many-a-good-thing too far. I like the slant rhyme you've formed with "hard" and "far"... Let's all hang it on our fridges to remind us: moderation in all things. --Charlie

We often do this through life but I believe we all have a rewind button that can take us back to where we need to be, maybe to just understand a little more or to say we are sorry but it is never to late to start over or change the way things are moving. If we have a dream, we must believe in it and ourselves for a dream never dies. I thank you for sharing your words.
