My skin becomes startled in your gentle touch
My heart wedged in the blue flesh of yearning
My drought riddled eyes open in the lightning
and the flashing thunder of your honest gaze
My ears once closed to a cacophony of voices
listen intently to the melody of your sighs
pirouetting in the equator of your smiles
marching in the parade of your spoken words
My hands tremble in attempt to measure you
to gauge the genuine warmth of your heart
Tall fences tumble in the pastures of strangers
when distance becomes conquered in dreams
While young girls are awed in their reflection
you come clear into focus from the inside out
There is a glow in the aurora of your soul
that emanates to brighten the darkest night
and there it resides in the point of a lone star
eliciting the wide carousel of my imagination
You are a point in a lone star as twin stars go
with a sweet potato pie sitting in the window
while strangers pass to get a glimpse or whiff
to give equilibrium to the roller coaster of life
You already know the rhythm of my heart
for you see it clearly in the eyes of Mexico
and both our souls dutifully fly at half mast
in the twin towers as well as at the Alamo
